Golden Wedding celebration

Northern Cyprus    3rd - 11th March 2020 On Tuesday 3rd March Bill and Val drove to the Ibis Hotel on the outskirts of Gatwick Airport, they stayed the night, left the car and took the shuttle bus to the North Terminal. From there they flew to Antalia, Turkey. Here they had to disembark, clear immigration and customs then reboard the plane for the onward trip to Ercan in Northern Cyprus. After having to clear immigration and customs again they transferred to their hotel in Famagusta arriving about half past midnight local time. They remained in this resort for three nights and whilst there visited Nicosia, the nearby St Barnabas monastery, the ruin city of Salmis, Dipkarpaz, St Andrew’s monastery, the Golden beach and a little village    of Komi Kebir on the Karpasir peninsular. On Friday 28th March Val and Bill set of to the Stratford Manor Hotel, Stratford upon Avon for a Masonic Ladies weekend. On arrival they met up with their friends and sat in the reception and had afternoon tea together. Later that evening the group had dinner before retiring to their respective rooms. Saturday 29th March Val and Bill had breakfast then drove into Stratford where they purchased some bits they needed, wandered about the the town then discovered a lovely tea room where they enjoyed an afternoon cream tea. Afterwards they drove to Charlecote House, a nearby National Trust property, where they had a good time exploring this magnificent place. They then returned to the hotel and prepared themselves for the evening’s event.  The festival was a black tie/evening dress affair. On Thursday 27th February Val and Bill, together with friends went to the Adelphi Theatre in the Strand, London for an Italian meal and to see a performance of the musical “Waitress”. It was really funny and entertaining. A brilliant night out.

Oxfordshire Gang Show 17 -22 February 2010 Val and Bill are heavily involved in Scouting and this week devoted their time    to the Gang Show. The Gang Show is more than just a Scout and Guide activity it provides terrific entertainment to all. Val and Bill’s role is front of house “meeting and greeting” all the visitors ensuring they are made welcome. On on night they have a specific responsibility for ensuring the local dignitaries are looked after. One such dignitary was Tim Stevenson, Oxfordshire’s Lord Lieutenant, who upon hearing about Val and Bill’s celebratory year agreed to be photographed with them..  Bill, Val and Mr Tim Stevenson

Exmouth Devon. 14-17 February 2020 On Friday 14th February 2020 Bill and Val drove down to the Imperial Hotel Exmouth for a long weekend organised by the International Police Association (IPA). On arrival they checked in and later met up with other IPA members mostly from West Country forces though there was another couple from Thames Valley. The problem with the weekend was that Storm Dennis had chosen to arrive at the same time so this limited their choice of activities. On Saturday they chose to go into Exeter on the bus, at least there would be cover from the atrocious weather. On arrival in Exeter they wandered though the city visiting the cathedral and some shops. They returned to Exmouth and during the short time they were out some of the roads they had travelled in on had flooded but fortunately not impassable. London’s West End.     13th February 2020 On Thursday 13th February Val and Bill went to see Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward theatre, Old Compton Street,Soho, London. The show as superb with new songs written especially for the stage show. The special effects were phenomenal.
